The opening map shows Force H, convoys, and the Mediterranean Fleet working within one operation. Force H's attacks on Sardinia, the convoy routes, and the fleet's movements were connected parts of the same operational picture. Delivering ships, destroyers, and cruisers to reinforce the eastern Mediterranean mattered in its own right, while the carrier strike offered an additional chance to alter the balance. This framing explains why Operation MB8 could still yield important results even if not every element went as planned.
