Old ships can still provide operational mass

The campaign's large invasion requirements prompt a discussion of retaining older ships when usable hulls and tonnage matter more than front-line quality.

Notes

A ship remains in service while it can still perform a useful operation. Large invasion requirements make aggregate hull numbers and displacement valuable even when every ship is not a front-line design. Older units gradually move toward more distant stations, leaving newer ships for the most demanding duties. Replacing every old hull would improve average quality while removing mass needed for secondary theatres and support tasks.
