Occupied Chinese factories supplied Japanese forces

Japanese expeditionary forces used weapons and ammunition produced in occupied Chinese plants that Japan took over and repurposed.

Notes

Japanese forces in China could be armed with Japanese-pattern weapons and ammunition manufactured inside occupied China. Many of these plants were existing Chinese factories rather than entirely new Japanese construction. Occupation authorities took them over, added equipment, and repurposed their output for the expeditionary army. The example demonstrates both the reality of China's prewar industrial capacity and the danger that exposed production could be captured and turned against its original state.
