Nürnberg's Soviet career as Admiral Makarov

Transferred to the Soviet Union as Admiral Makarov, Nürnberg outlasted the Kriegsmarine and continued as a training cruiser into the postwar era.

Notes

After the war Nürnberg went to the Soviet Union, became Admiral Makarov, and served with the Eighth Fleet before moving into training duties. She appears to have left service by 1959 and been scrapped in 1960, although the precise end of her career remains uncertain. In this account, she was the longest-serving major Kriegsmarine warship and the only one to perform active duties after 1945. The completed ship remained useful for decades despite the faults in the design path that produced it.
