Glowworm damages Admiral Hipper before sinking

HMS Glowworm became separated from the destroyer group operating under Renown before meeting Admiral Hipper. The German cruiser sank her, but did not escape untouched. Hipper was damaged and had to return for repairs. The passage makes the destroyer's loss strategically more complex because the action also removed a much larger German ship from immediate operations.
