North Cape released Fraser and heavy ships for the Pacific

Destroying Scharnhorst reduced the German surface threat and helped free Fraser and Home Fleet units for the British Pacific Fleet.

Notes

The immediate tactical victory changed where Britain could employ scarce capital ships and escorts. With the remaining German surface fleet unlikely to sortie in strength, the Home Fleet no longer needed the same concentration in northern waters. Fraser soon moved to command the British Pacific Fleet, accompanied by ships that had served under him at home. Eliminating one major enemy capability released an entire package of commanders and forces for another theater.
