One argument claims that recruits from New England formed entire regiments and even most of Parliament's New Model Army. Some people did cross the Atlantic and serve on both Royalist and Parliamentarian sides. Those individual careers do not support the leap to a predominantly American army, and the larger claim can be disproved quickly. Vivid transatlantic biographies do not by themselves establish the composition of whole formations.

The claim that Americans formed most of the New Model Army fails a scale check
A claim that the New Model Army was largely American becomes a lesson in testing dramatic institutional arguments against the scale of the evidence.
