New Ironsides versus CSS Virginia

Would New Ironsides defeat CSS Virginia?

Probably; it is treated as a fairer matchup, with New Ironsides favored.

A viewer proposes CSS Virginia as a more suitable opponent for New Ironsides than Warrior. The answer agrees that it is a more even comparison and favors New Ironsides. The wording is cautious: New Ironsides could win, rather than being guaranteed a victory. This brief exchange offers a better Civil War ironclad comparison without turning it into a foregone conclusion.
