Nelson's victories and his weaker amphibious record

Nelson's record combines famous victories with operations in which he achieved much less. The Nile, Copenhagen, Trafalgar, and Cape St Vincent stand out as sea actions, while the less successful entries cluster around amphibious work. His command performance depended partly on environment and task. A handful of celebrated battles should not be mistaken for equal competence in every form of naval operation.
