What is your favourite naval war film?
Short answerIt is between The Cruel Sea and The Battle of the River Plate.
NotesThe selection pairs a convoy-war drama with a film about a surface action. The Cruel Sea follows the strain and attrition of the Atlantic convoy war, while The Battle of the River Plate turns to a pursuit and surface engagement. Both are kept available for rewatching. Together they offer two different routes into naval history through cinema.
