A Swedish salvage company refloated Albatross after her 1915 grounding, and Sweden returned the ship to Germany after the war. She was removed from the naval register and scrapped in 1919. Nautilus ended 1918 assigned to the special unit supporting the White Finns during the Finnish Civil War, although she saw no action there. She was then demilitarized, used successively as Hulk I and Hulk A, and finally scrapped in 1928. Their specialized value faded quickly once the original fleet and political setting disappeared.
