If most of the proposed ships are from NATO navies, is Indian participation the only integration issue?
Short answerIndia is the main issue raised, but the timing and frequency of shared training matter for every ship. NATO membership alone does not replace that preparation.
NotesShips still need experience of operating together before forming an effective task group. ABDA in the Second World War supplies a warning about bringing forces together without sufficient integration. The Danish and American ships had been practising with the carrier group for most of the previous year, giving the core formation a firmer basis. Wider Royal Navy training would also allow Montrose or another Type 23 to join quite quickly. Other additions would require time, training, and experience.
