Reconstructing a Narvik-class destroyer in a design game

A Narvik-class recreation exposes the compromises required when a game hull and fittings do not match a historical destroyer's layout.

Notes

The attempt starts from the 1936A type's single and twin 5.9-inch guns, quadruple 21-inch torpedo tubes, and light anti-aircraft weapons. The 5.9-inch weapon is checked at 45 calibres against its historical barrel length instead of using the game's default fitting. The game cannot place the funnel and other equipment in their historical positions. The resulting design shows where the real ship's dimensions and intended layout give way to the simulation's abstractions.
