Museum visits build visible support for preserved ships

Sharing visits to museum ships can increase attendance and show public funders that naval heritage attracts sustained interest.

Notes

Online attention and in-person visits can help preserved ships such as HMCS Haida, HMCS Sackville, and The Sullivans. Veterans, reservists, and parks staff do much of the work that keeps them accessible. Haida is the last surviving Tribal-class destroyer, and her preservation depends in part on the public choosing to visit and talk about the ship. Sharing a museum visit both promotes the site and gives governments visible evidence that it attracts interest and merits funding.
