An aircraft alone can be countered by going deep or slipping below a thermal layer, but a helicopter's dipping sonar and a frigate's towed array create different detection geometries. Coordinating these sensors with sonobuoys and torpedoes forces the submarine to respond to threats from several directions. Uncrewed aircraft carrying additional dipping sonars could multiply those geometries because several distributed sensors are harder to evade than one helicopter. Each additional sensor and weapon narrows the boat's safe choices without requiring any single platform to solve the entire hunt.
