The Möwe, Seeadler and Wolf groups shared a nominal machinery design figure of 23,000 shaft horsepower, but their trial results differed considerably. Möwe achieved 22,100 shaft horsepower and 32 knots against an intended 33 knots. Seeadler reached 24,829 shaft horsepower and 33.6 knots, while the Wolf group reached about 25,500 shaft horsepower and 35.2 knots against a 34-knot design speed. The heavier, longer Wolf boats therefore gained more speed over their design figure than the Seeadler group did. These results raise questions about the relationship between machinery output, hull dimensions and achieved speed.

Möwe, Seeadler and Wolf machinery trials
Trials of the Type 23 and Type 24 torpedo boats produced different returns from their machinery despite a common nominal power figure.
