A fixed hypersonic target is not a moving warship

A successful strike on a fixed land object does not by itself prove equal performance against a defended and maneuvering ship.

Notes

A hypersonic weapon's success against a fixed land target does not transfer directly to a moving warship. The naval engagement adds target motion, approach geometry, air-defense systems, and the problem of obtaining and updating a firing solution. A fixed-target test or combat result remains useful evidence about the weapon, but it answers a different operational question. Threat assessment should therefore compare like engagements before declaring that one result settles the survivability of a ship.
