The possible return of battlecruiser names is separated from the construction of new surface battlecruisers.

Naval Naming Nuclear Submarines Royal Navy SSN Aukus

Question

What would a modern Hood, Renown, or Tiger be, and how likely is the Royal Navy to build one?

Short answer

A submarine, potentially SSN-AUKUS, is considered the likeliest setting for such a name, without a confirmed naming decision.

Notes

A modern Royal Navy ship carrying a battlecruiser name is imagined as a submarine. SSN-AUKUS is suggested as the likely setting for that possibility. Various names had been discussed, but no naming decision is confirmed.
