HMS Misoa carried American and Canadian armoured forces during the Normandy campaign. At Juno Beach a tank slipped sideways from her ramp, blocking it until the falling tide left the ship stranded overnight. While she remained at the beachhead, her accommodation, stores, and medical facilities supported motor torpedo boats and motor gun boats. She later moved to Arromanches and remained useful in that mother-ship role before returning home in March 1945 for decommissioning and reconversion as a tanker.

Misoa at Juno Beach and as a coastal-forces mother ship
A blocked ramp stranded Misoa at Juno Beach, after which her accommodation and stores made her useful as a mother ship for coastal craft.
