Mers-el-Kébir with three British carriers

An additional carrier presence would multiply reconnaissance, mine-dropping protection, and the ability to pursue French ships leaving Mers-el-Kébir.

Notes

Three carriers would create far more operational options without guaranteeing a particular result. More aircraft aloft would make it harder for Strasbourg or other units to escape observation and would give Force H more ways to coordinate surface and air power. Extra fighters could cover mine-dropping aircraft while additional reconnaissance searched escape routes beyond the historical concentration. A second carrier group positioned along Strasbourg's route could turn an evasion of one force into an encounter with another.
