Alex Clarke recalls a Fleet Air Arm relative travelling aboard a merchant ship in the Indian Ocean. After a German surface raider killed the gun crew, the relative and a friend took over the gun while others reached the lifeboats. The relative was killed, and the family account places his burial in India after his body washed ashore far from the action. The ship and raider are unnamed, and the grave's exact location remains uncertain.
