Chapter · 14:43-15:59

Nigeria's Aradu begins the MEKO 360 line before Argentina expands it

The Nigerian Aradu and Argentine Almirante Brown class show how the MEKO 360 design family moved between export customers and configurations.

Notes

Nigeria's Aradu appears first in the MEKO 360 line, at about 3,360 tons and 125 metres long. Argentina's Almirante Brown class followed with a related configuration and room for capability growth. The Argentine fit includes eight Exocets and an octuple launcher for Aspide surface-to-air missiles. A range of 4,500 nautical miles at 18 knots gives another measure of the capability offered to that customer. MEKO could serve different navies through a configurable family of ships.
