The historical Invincible has an approximately 209-metre hull and a 168-metre axial flight deck. Applying the same 41-metre difference to the proposed 255-metre ship leaves about 214 metres of flight deck. That additional run could support heavier takeoff loads or more efficient departures. It also creates more scope for a rolling landing, if that operating method is adopted.
