Would Italian carriers and guided bombs make Malta easy to take?

That force could change the attack, but making all of it available by 1942 requires more than the established scenario supports.

Question

Could Italy take Malta with three or four carriers and guided bombs?

Short answer

That force could change the attack, but making all of it available by 1942 requires more than the established scenario supports.

Notes

Italian yard capacity remains occupied by battleship construction until around 1942. Several carriers therefore cannot be assumed to emerge simply because they would be useful. Some of the proposed weapon capabilities also belong to much later historical development. Other powers would have the same additional years to improve their forces. The reply accepts the effect of a stronger attacking force while questioning the collection of assumptions needed to create it.
