Lulworth's unusually broad anti-submarine record

The former Coast Guard cutter Lulworth fought submarines in several theatres and may have sunk boats of all three Axis powers.

Notes

Lulworth began as the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Chelan before entering Royal Navy service. She took part in Operation Torch, attacked U-96 in the Atlantic, sank the Italian submarine Pietro Calvi, and depth-charged the Japanese submarine I-37 in the Indian Ocean. That record may make her unique as a ship credited with sinking submarines from all three Axis powers, although the claim remains tentative. Her Royal Naval Reserve crew had previously served aboard HMS Malaya before taking over the cutter. The transferred peacetime vessel acquired an unusually broad combat record under a new service and crew.
