Interwar Italian warships served deep into the Cold War

Several Regia Marina ships continued under the postwar Marina Militare, with Giuseppe Garibaldi surviving in service until 1971.

Question

If postwar Italy used surplus Regia Marina ships, when did the last of them leave service?

Short answer

Some lasted for decades; Giuseppe Garibaldi, begun in the 1930s, remained until 1971.

Notes

Postwar Italy did retain and reuse vessels inherited from the Regia Marina. Battleships, cruisers, and other types left service on different schedules, so there is no single retirement date for the whole wartime fleet. The cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi is the clearest long-lived example. Laid down in the 1930s, heavily adapted after the war, and retained until 1971, she connected interwar construction with Cold War service.
