Long wars expose vertical-launch replenishment limits

Vertical-launch systems designed on the assumption that their magazines would not need reloading become a logistical constraint once a conflict lasts.

Notes

Vertical-launch systems provide a compact example of short-war assumptions shaping equipment. Existing VLS arrangements were not designed around repeated magazine replenishment during a campaign. Once a war lasts long enough to require reloads, the logistics become a serious constraint. The problem is especially acute if a navy expects to replenish cells at sea.
