How would Long Lance torpedoes change Royal Navy destroyer tactics?
Short answerDestroyers might fire a long-range salvo, reload with faster short-range settings, then launch again while closing with guns.
NotesLong Lance torpedoes could let British destroyers begin their night attacks at greater range. They might fire an opening torpedo salvo and then close with their guns. A reload set for higher speed and shorter range could provide a second torpedo attack during the approach. This is a proposed adaptation of British tactics, conditional on the weapons and reloads being available.
