Logistics strategy must fit the theatre

British and American logistics systems answered different geographies, so neither supplies a universal model for every naval war.

Notes

British and American logistics each answered a particular strategic situation, operating distance, and network of bases. Treating naval logistics as a binary contest produces a one-size-fits-all system that will fail when the theatre changes. A supply architecture therefore has to be judged by how well it supports the fleet's actual geography and missions. Neither approach provides a universal model.
