In a viewer's account of Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Yang Wen-li wins an academy war game by attacking his rival's supply ships. His opponent is celebrated for tactical maneuver and an undefeated record, while Yang's strength is military history. The supply attack exploits something the other cadets had left out of their tactical thinking. The viewer connects that fictional oversight with the appeal of expensive front-line weapons to politicians who neglect the support those weapons require.
