Locust survives and becomes a headquarters ship

HMS Locust's survival and 1944 headquarters conversion show how the only completed member of the class to survive the war adapted beyond its original river-gunboat role.

Notes

Locust was the only completed Dragonfly-class gunboat to survive the Second World War. Her wartime refit replaced the 3.7-inch howitzer with a quadruple pom-pom, and she later received three 20 mm guns and 20 depth charges. In 1944 she became a headquarters ship, extending her service beyond the class's original river-patrol role. Mosquito, Scorpion, Dragonfly, and Grasshopper were all lost during the war.
