A hypothetical Soviet task-group fleet and its Pacific weakness

Completed Soviet battleships would likely have anchored local task groups, but the Pacific was the hardest theatre to support.

Notes

The proposed employment is regional rather than global: a battleship at the centre of cruisers, destroyers, and torpedo craft could strengthen the Baltic, Black Sea, or northern waters. Even before firing, the launched ships' image would influence how neighbouring powers judged Soviet strength. The absence of an early Pacific allocation exposes the opposite problem. The Far East was strategically vulnerable but lacked the infrastructure and industrial support needed to sustain the same kind of heavy force.
