Would continued Lion-class construction make Vanguard unnecessary?

Completing Lion and Temeraire could remove Vanguard's distinct procurement case, especially if Hood is also modernized.

Question

Does avoiding the pause lead to more Lion-class ships, and would the Royal Navy still build Vanguard?

Short answer

Lion and Temeraire become more plausible completions, but Vanguard may lose her justification if Lions and a modernized Hood already fill the role.

Notes

Continued work on existing hulls does not automatically authorize additional ships. It makes completion of Lion and Temeraire plausible, while the timing of any further orders still depends on requirements. Vanguard could also be completed, so her cancellation is not a fixed result. If the Lion class and a modernized Hood already cover the required roles, however, Vanguard may lack a sufficiently distinct purpose to justify the additional cost.
