The Action of 13 March 1806 reversed Charles Linois's experience at Pulo Aura. At Pulo Aura, merchant ships persuaded him that they were a stronger naval force. In the later action, Admiral Warren's warships behaved like a merchant convoy and drew him into combat. Ship recognition and expected behavior could therefore be manipulated both to deter an attack and to invite one.
