Notable Point ยท 10:32-15:26

Leadership, management, and command are different skills

A useful distinction separates inspiring followers, organizing resources, and accepting the human responsibility of command.

Notes

Leadership persuades people to follow, while management organizes work inside a larger structure. Command adds final responsibility for decisions whose consequences may include the deaths of subordinates, friends, or relatives. Compassion is essential because a commander must understand what people below are being asked to endure. Officers often learned the next level in practice, including captains serving closely alongside admirals.
