Chapter ยท 2:23:27-2:27:10

Leadership includes building the right leadership team

Good leaders identify their own limits and construct teams whose tempo and strengths fit the mission.

Notes

An effective manager who lacks charismatic front-line presence can still lead by selecting subordinates who supply that capability. Building the leadership team is itself part of command. Fast, reactive leaders may need trusted colleagues who can take over immediate activity while they step back for strategic thought. Methodical leaders need teams that work at a compatible pace rather than constantly outrunning their decisions. Leadership therefore operates through nested teams and levels rather than a single personality at the top.
