Coastal pilots expose the Le Havre cover story

Rodney's earlier Le Havre operation was nominally disguised as a Gibraltar resupply mission. The deception was undermined when recruiters in Cornwall openly sought pilots who knew France's north coast and promised handsome pay without asking how they had acquired that knowledge. Operational preparations can expose a target even when official orders point elsewhere. On the later voyage, Gibraltar really was the destination.
