Dreadnought paid off in November 1760, but Suckling soon returned to command in HMS Nassau. Her Bay of Biscay service began after Quiberon Bay, so he reinforced the squadron that had captured Belle Île without sharing in the earlier victory. The Falklands Crisis of 1770 brought him back in HMS Raisonnable, another 64-gun third rate suited to his established record. These respectable assignments maintained his standing while yielding few chances for the major action he repeatedly just missed.
