Would a 27,000-ton Illustrious attacking Taranto equal the combined effect of Glorious, Eagle, and Illustrious?

Not all three, but an air group of about 72 aircraft could approach the combined strike potential of Glorious and Illustrious.

The enlarged carrier could operate roughly 72 aircraft, including about 36 Swordfish and 18 Skuas available for the proposed strike mix. That compares with the roughly two dozen Swordfish launched historically, some of which failed to make contact. The result would not quite equal three carriers, but it could approach the combined strike potential of Glorious and Illustrious.
