The outbreak of the Korean War interrupted plans to send Unicorn home and returned her to the replenishment role for Royal Navy and Commonwealth carriers. She shuttled between Singapore and Japan with Seafires, Fireflies, stores, maintenance personnel, and troops of the Middlesex Regiment. Pilots used the flight deck for landing practice during passages, so the transit itself contributed to aircrew readiness. One load included Australian No. 77 Squadron's Gloster Meteor jets, showing that the ship could support new aircraft generations even before a proposed modernization. Periods as an accommodation ship and the regiment's later adoption of Unicorn further demonstrate how broadly the Navy used her available space and mobility.
