Kidd's Gulf adaptations and remaining land-attack limit

Extra cooling and water production suited Kidd to the Gulf, while its broad warfare capability still lacked land attack beyond the guns.

Notes

The Kidds' extra air conditioning supported their computer systems in the Gulf. It also reduced the heat those systems imposed on the crew. Additional water-distillation capacity suited operations in the same region. After the Iranian order was canceled following the revolution, the US Navy acquired the ships and used them extensively in the Gulf. The class combined strong ASW and air-defense capability, but land attack remained limited to its 5-inch guns.
