FDI as a Baltic principal combatant and export demonstrator

Sweden can use its FDI-derived frigates as principal Baltic combatants, while France demonstrates how an in-service ship can strengthen diplomacy and export campaigns.

Notes

Swedish FDI-derived ships are expected to act as principal surface combatants in the Baltic, especially because the navy will operate only a small number. A recognizable and visibly capable ship can carry diplomatic weight when it enters a port or appears during a regional operation. In this interpretation, observers react to the ship's appearance before checking its armament and other specifications, so its silhouette can influence the diplomatic impression it makes. France has reinforced that effect by sending Amiral Ronarc'h, an in-service FDI, to visit potential customers and demonstrate the design. Greece's Kimon also gives buyers a second operational national variant to examine. Being able to tour and inspect a working ship can change how procurement teams judge a design. Mogami and FDI have gained an advantage in competitions where they could appear in service while Type 31 remained a paper or building-stage offer.
