Kaga as an instrument of naval diplomacy

Kaga's regional exercises and cultural visibility made the ship a symbol of Japanese security commitment as well as a military platform.

Notes

Kaga commissioned in 2017 and soon deployed through the South China Sea and Indian Ocean for exercises with the Philippine, Singaporean, Indonesian, Indian, and Sri Lankan navies. Hosting President Donald Trump added high-level diplomacy to the ship's operational presence. Its mascot adapts the popular KanColle personification of the Second World War carrier Kaga, even updating the character's insignia, equipment, and helicopters for the modern ship. A later appearance in Captain America: Brave New World extended that recognition beyond naval audiences. These cultural details are part of sea power because a visible warship can signal Japanese identity, allied commitment, and regional presence without firing a weapon.
