Chapter ยท 43:04-44:16

Jutland was numerically a destroyer and torpedo battle

Destroyers and ocean-going torpedo boats made up 139 of Jutland's 250 ships, a majority often obscured by the battle's association with capital ships.

Notes

Destroyers and torpedo boats accounted for 139 of the 250 ships at Jutland. This total includes the large German torpedo boats built for ocean-going operations. Every other category combined accounted for the remaining 111 ships. Judged by the number of vessels present, light torpedo forces formed the majority in an action commonly remembered as a clash of battle fleets.
