Type 41 guns and the Japanese destroyers' performance

The Japanese-built destroyers combined British-pattern Type 41 guns with Japanese hull design and triple-expansion machinery, reaching 29 knots on a displacement under 700 tons.

Notes

Each ship carried one 120 mm (4.7-inch) gun, four 76 mm (3-inch) guns, and two twin 450 mm (18-inch) torpedo mountings. Both gun calibres were Type 41 weapons built in Japanese arsenals from British patterns. The hull and superstructure reflected Japanese design practice despite the familiar British gun calibres. Triple-expansion engines provided a top speed of 29 knots and a range of 2,000 nautical miles at 12 knots. Each destroyer displaced under 700 tons and required a complement of 109.
