How did Japan influence Glynn Stewart's worldbuilding?

Did the trip to Japan influence Glynn Stewart's fiction?

Yes. It influenced names and inspired a fictional Mitsubishi Heavy Industries colony project whose systems are divided between a cold-war power and independent worlds.

Recent travel and reading leave traces in the names Glynn Stewart invents for new star systems. Most names are varied, but a few cluster around something that has recently caught his attention. In the House Adamant series, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries inspires a fictional colony project extending across several systems. Some of those worlds now belong to a cold-war power while others remain independent. Alex Clarke jokes that approved subsidiaries probably still own everything, and Stewart agrees only tentatively.
