Why a disputed photograph of Jadar is withheld

A specialist's challenge to a purported Jadar photograph becomes a concise lesson in verifying image attribution before using it.

Notes

A photograph labelled as the Serbian patrol vessel Jadar was withheld after a historian familiar with the subject rejected the identification. A replacement image had not yet been found. Photographs of current Serbian vessels were used instead. The unresolved identification shows why a plausible caption is insufficient grounds for attaching a photograph to a historical ship.
