Vulcano ammunition and Italy's pursuit of range

What does the panel think of the Italian 120 mm smoothbore tank gun using Vulcano ammunition?

It fits Italy's established interest in making conventional gun systems reach much farther through advanced ammunition.

The panel is unsurprised that Italy is pairing a 120 mm smoothbore gun with Vulcano ammunition. It connects the project to the OTO Melara 76 mm system, which also uses a Vulcano-family projectile. A claimed reach around 40 kilometers for that naval gun makes the label close-in weapon feel increasingly relative. Guided or extended-range ammunition can change the tactical category associated with an otherwise familiar caliber.
