Isokaze gains fighting power with relatively few extra crew

Isokaze's larger battery needed only about thirty extra crew, while funding and yard capacity constrained Japan's destroyer orders.

Notes

An Isokaze required 128 crew, roughly thirty more than a Kaba's 92 to 98. Its battery comprised four 120 mm guns and six 450 mm torpedo tubes, alongside the larger hull, turbines and greater operating range. That increase in fighting capacity made efficient use of the additional personnel. Japan's tighter constraints were funding and industrial capacity, since crews were available. Those limits affected plans to order eight first-class destroyers for the Eight-Eight Fleet programme.
