Isis and Monarch survive concentrated Danish fire

Prøvesteenen nearly overwhelmed the 50-gun HMS Isis before HMS Désirée and HMS Polyphemus intervened, while HMS Monarch suffered under concentrated Danish fire.

Notes

At about 1 p.m., Prøvesteenen's fire placed the 50-gun HMS Isis in serious danger. The frigate HMS Désirée raked the Danish position with assistance from HMS Polyphemus, preventing it from finishing Isis. Elsewhere, HMS Monarch was damaged by the combined fire of Holstein and Sjælland. These ship-level episodes show that the Danish line could inflict severe punishment even though its command system failed to coordinate the wider defence. The passage also foreshadows Holstein's later distinction as the only captured Danish vessel retained for British service.
